During the constant temperature changes, the parents must keep their eyes on the baby’s health. Nowadays, the strong virus can easily cause illness to the baby. There are 2 contagious diseases that are widespread particularly in winter and summer. They are chickenpox and rubella which are mostly found in children at the age of 1-3 years old.
Chickenpox and rubella are highly contagious even though they are caused by different virus. The primary symptoms include mild illness and itchy rash in a couple of days later. After the fever is improved, it means that the baby is soon recovering. Nevertheless, these infectious diseases will leave red rash and red spots that will soon develop tiny blisters on the top. Afterwards, they might cause scarring in case of poor treatment.
What is rubella and the treatment?
Rubella, or German measles, is highly infectious in winter and summer. The disease is mostly found in 2 years old children. The disease can be transmitted through coughing or breath of people sick from rubella. The symptoms include high fever, running nose. After 3-4 days, red itchy rashes will appear on the face, arms, legs and body along with fever for 1-2 days. This unusually takes 7-10 days to recover. Nevertheless, the rash will last for 4-7 days longer before disappearing.
Treatment for Rubella
Gently rub the body with wet towel to ease discomfort. Drink a lot of water and take medicine to reduce the fever. Do not take your child out to the crowded place. Separate the room to prevent infection. The prevention can be done by vaccination when your child is 9-12 months old. The active immunity can last throughout the life.
How to recover the baby’s skin from the chickenpox
Chickenpox is highly infectious in winter and summer and caused by varicella virus. The symptoms include fever along with itchy small red dots on the face and neck, arms, legs and body. The blisters will dry out within 7-14 days.
Treatment for chickenpox
Take a rest and drink a lot of water. In present, there is vaccination that can prevent chickenpox. Nevertheless, the vaccination is quite expensive and should be under doctor’s surveillance.
While the baby is catching rubella or chickenpox or having rash on the body, the calamine or the saline solution can be apply to relieve itchiness. Keep the child’s fingernails short in order to avoid infection from scratching which will eventually cause scarring.
Don’tapply cream or lotion on skin with rash or red dots since it might cause infection.
Tips: Pour 2 drops of baby oilin the bathing tub or apply on the baby skin while it is still wet in order to moisturize the skin and lessen itchiness from the dry blisters.
