A lively child is happiness to a family. Nevertheless, the child’s walking, running and playing might cause worries to the parents. Most of us tend to be afraid that the child will get hurt from playing. Even a small wound can cause serious worries to every parent. The wound must be treated with appropriate guidelines as follows.
Well observation is required.
Whenever your child is playing, you have to make sure that the playground and the toys are safe. You have to carefully check the edge of the table, the hold in the field, small pieces of glass and branch. After playing, you also have to closely check up your child’s body to see if there is any wound on the skin. Early notice allows more effective treatment.
Laceration
Immediately clean the wound and put antiseptic liquid to prevent infection. If the cut is not deep, it is not necessary to put the adhesive bandage in order that the skin can breathe and heal quicker. More importantly, do not use skin care cream while the wound is still fresh. Use baby oil instead. Wait until the wound dries, then you can use cream or lotion again.
Abrasion
Immediately clean the wound and stop bleeding before washing the wound with antiseptic liquid and put the adhesive bandage. Clean the wound and change dressing 2 times a day. For the deep cut wound, the child should be taken to the hospital for appropriate cleaning wound, dressing changes and pain relief medicine.
Blister and scald
Burns or scalds from hot water or iron should be treated quickly to reduce the temperature of the burned area. Run cool water over the wound or hold a cold compress on the burn until redness reduces. Afterwards, take the child to the doctor for appropriate healing. Painkiller might be taken to reduce pain. If your child has a blister, you might use clean needle to gently puncture the edge of the blister. Press the fluid in the blister toward the hole you made. Wash the blister after you have drained it. For a large blister, you might take your child to the doctor for appropriate treatment to avoid scare and worse condition.
Tip : When caring for your child’s wound, avoid using skin cream or lotion. Opt for baby oil to nourish your child’s skin. After the wound is dried, you can then use cream or lotion to soften, moisturize and heal your child’s skin.
