Teach Your Child Technology

Our daily life is driven by technology. No matter where we go, everyone only keeps their eyes on their technological devices such as smart phone or tablet. Not only the grow-ups, small kids know how to use these devices even though they cannot read or understand the language.

Children are interested and fascinated with technology of smart phone and tablet. Nowadays, to calm down the crying child, give him a smart phone or a tablet loaded with games. He will just sit still…as easy as it is.

Teaching them technology and how to use it is an advantage. Nevertheless, it must be within limit and appropriate to the child’s age. At the age of three, the child is in the age of learning. It is a good time for physical and mental development. When the child is focus to something too much, he might lose opportunity to socialize and learn other things.

Teach Your Child an Appropriate Way to Use Technology

• In your smart phone or tablet, select the applications or games that develop your child’s skill such as painting (that develops your child’s imagination), handwriting game(for hand muscles while learning words and letters), story-telling, easy math or playing musical instrument.

• Set the computer or games time for your child no more than 1.5 hours to avoid eye problem.

• Encourage your child to do other activities that efficiently promote their physical and mental development by moving his body. Learning about nature, outdoor environment or doing exercise is recommended.

• Parents must be good role models for your child in terms of how to use technology appropriately.

• Keep update with technology news to know what is good for your child.

• Set the ground rules together. Ask your child to take part in setting the rule and follow it seriously. If the rules are violated, discuss with him instead of punishment.
