It does not matter what season it is, children can always learn through joyful activities with season-based creative learning from surroundings subjects, indoor and outdoors. Children at age of 3-6 years old can do activities by themselves because the development of their growth is quite well progressed. It should be noted that children can better learn by doing.
Various Seasons, varying activities Whatever season it is, learning activities should not be interrupted because every thing around us can be sources of learning. Examples are as follows.
Summer (Hot Season)
In summer or hot season, it would be nice to take children to the parks nearby your home. Instruments for little explorer like magnifying glass may be prepared for children’s activities such as surveying for insects including ants, worms, chrysalis, or insects that will slough off in summer. Such insects like cicada usually leaves their sloughs on trees so that children can even more learn, memorize, and enjoy such exploration.
Rainy Season
Children can learn through observation of the rainy season starting from the time before the rain. By observing the cloud, it is learned that the rain cloud is black and moving at low altitude, which is different from general clouds that are white and moving at higher altitude on the day with no rain. Children can learn how to observe and make question as well as notice other changes such as sunshine after rain. Parents may ask children to observe if there is any rainbow, how to observe the rainbow, and whether the rainbow would appear every time after rain? Help children to make questions and also the answers.
Winter (Cold Season)
When the cool breeze arrives, parents should take children to experience the cool air outside as well as to observe the morning fog and dew. Parents should teach their children that it gets dark sooner in winter than in summer. The sky will be completely dark and the stars may be clearly seen at some locations. Parents may ask children to measure the winter temperature, by using a thermometer, and compare with the summer temperature. This will enable children to see the temperature differences more clearly.
