Taking medicine with difficulty is normal for every child. No matter they are a grown child or a small one, every family will complain about this problem which concerns parents a lot. Especially using medicines in younger children, you need to be very careful because the baby is still unable to speak. Feeding them medicine must be closely monitored.
Why do children vomit after taking medicine?
If my child vomits after taking medicine, should I feed them again?
Case 1: If your baby vomits after taking medicine longer than 30 minutes (the drug is expected to be absorbed into the body), you do not have to refeed him/her the medicine.
Case 2: If your baby is taking less than 30 minutes, there are chances that he/she might vomit the medicine out. It’s recommended to feed him/her the medicine again with the same dosage.
Parents must be patient when feeding medicine to your children. If your baby is very young, hold him/her in a comfortable and safe position, then find a way to distract him/her while feeding the medicine. You might have another family member to help to hold the baby in case of struggle.
