A child sleeps, whether sleeping late, don’t have enough sleep, keep waking up during sleep, snoring or stop breathing during sleep, all of these factors can affect the development and intelligence of a child. On the other hand, having enough rest will improve the ability in learning and memory as well.
Children’s sleep habits of each age
How sleeping help your baby’s brain develop?
In families that parents come home late or work at night, their children will adjust to sleep late and wake up late, too. This sometimes can cause problems during the school days which they need to wake up early to go to school. The children might not have enough sleep due to various reasons such as changing the sleeping place and make them hard to sleep. When a baby sleeps in a cradle for a long time, it’s hard to switch to sleep on the bed. In children with asthma or snoring, they might be unable to sleep well and squirm around. All of these will affect the children’s growth and brain development because they’re unable to concentrate on learning during the day, affecting on memory and creativity.
For the children who sleep early, and the total number of the sleeping hour is quite high, it may be due to their daytime activities. If they play a lot and very tired, they will sleep longer. Sick children also need a long and continuous rest.
Good sleep factors
It’s recommended to let the baby’s sleeping hours as natural as possible. Each child has his/her own biological clock. If their growth is normal, their development is reasonable, and they’re just as cheerful as ever, then you don’t have anything to worry about. Mothers should encourage their children to have a sufficient sleep for their age. The sleeping place should be peaceful and airy. However, if you’re worried whether the long hours of sleep will relate to a disease, and children who eat then sleep are at risk for obesity, please consult with the doctor.
