A baby is not a mother's responsibility only – the father plays an important role, too. Some fathers are so good at handling the baby, even better than the mothers, but it doesn't come easy. To master the art of childcare, it takes practice and experience. New fathers might feel scared when handling the baby, especially when giving the baby a bath. Well, don't be! Today, Babi Mild has some tips to share to help new daddies give their little one a bath without fearing that the baby won't enjoy the experience.
Five steps to give baby a bath
Step 1: Hold your baby in one arm, using the side you feel comfortable with. Hold the baby's head in your hand, and rest the body along the arm. Keep the baby's body next to yours to avoid slipping. Use the arm to lock the baby in position.
Step 2: If you are afraid that your baby will slip into the tub, you can place a rolled up towel in the tub and place your baby's bottom on it, so that the baby doesn't slip.
Step 3: Use the other hand to pour water and pat the baby's skin gently until damp. Put some soap in your hand and rub the soap until foamy before rubbing it on the baby's skin.
Step 4: Use the hand to scoop up clean water to rinse out the foam. Gently pat the skin or massage the baby to help him feel relaxed. For the face, use your hand to gently rub the face, or use a damp sponge to gently clean it. Don't pour water directly into the baby's face because your baby might choke.
Step 5: Wrap your baby with a soft towel and towel-dry him before dressing.
See? It's not that difficult. Just lose your fear and embrace this experience with an open heart. It will bring you closer to your baby, and it might become the moment to look forward to every day!
