Child Development is very important issue that parents have to pay all attention. You may have heard that music has been used for child development since the beginning of pregnancy because music creates the good emotion, increases their intellectual level, and stimulates their learning abilities at every age. Therefore, mothers should select type of music which appropriate for babies’ ages.
Type of music for your baby development by age range
Age 1-3 Months Baby likes the slow and easy-listening music or cradlesongs. Listening to cradlesongs sung by mother or soft-tone voices. The easy-listening music makes the baby feel warm and safe. At this age, baby starts looking for sources of voices he hears. The baby can express his joyful feeling and starts making his own voice from the throat.
Age 4-5 Months Baby can learn more rhythms and respond to such rhythms and tunes. When he hears the rhythm which he likes, the baby will smile, clap his hands, or shake his head responding to the songs’ rhythm. Mother should select songs or music with joyful rhythm for baby.
Age 6-12 Months At this age, baby has more development in language skill and he can pronounce in some single syllables. Mother should select songs with simple rhyming words for baby. Listening to songs with short and simple lyrics enable your baby to imitate the song’s tunes and posture following the song’s rhythm such as nodding his head and bending his body.
Baby likes listening to the song repeatedly. Mother may often sing that song or slightly change the song’s lyric to create some new feelings and then stimulate baby to move along the rhythm such as bending his body, clapping his hands, or nodding his head. Having activities along with listening to music is good for increasing development of baby.
